BUYING SIGNALS

Buying Signals That Indicate a Company May Be Ready to Purchase

A signal is a reason to investigate. It is not the same as confirmed purchase intent.

FIELD NOTE

Look for a specific change

Hiring initiatives, funding announcements, new locations, technology adoption and leadership changes can each create new business requirements. Their usefulness depends on your offer.

Ask what the event actually tells you

An expansion announcement confirms a stated plan. It does not establish the budget for your service, the vendor-selection process or the owner of the decision. Those are separate research questions.

Check relevance and timing

Ask whether your service addresses a likely consequence of the event, whether the event is current and whether an external provider would reasonably be involved. A recent event with no connection to your offer is still a weak prospecting reason.

Keep uncertainty visible

Use careful language when connecting an event to a possible need. The first conversation can test your understanding rather than pretend the research has answered everything.

AxiomateAI field note. General prospecting guidance; a public signal does not confirm purchase intent.
